Pretty Pretty

So thanks to my buddy Julie, I figured out how to do new backgrounds!  So if you are fortunate enough to be able to visit my blog (hehe) and you notice some new stunning background I'm trying out, you'll know what's goin on.  No, I haven't been brainwashed and lost my sense of computer graphic style, I'm just experimenting!  I'm excited.  Right now I have this funky old turquoise van because I'm lovin the color of it.  Plus I wanted something cheerier.  The grey-pouring-rain-thingy was starting to get gloomy.

I'm not sure if you noticed, but I spell 'grey' with an e!  In America it's more commonly spelled 'g-r-a-y', whereas in England you would probably see it spelled g-r-e-y.  I personally like grey better, and I have always spelled it that way.  Gray is cool too though.  I'm not a graycist.  When you think about it, it's a really weird word.  Gre/ay.  Hmm.... es muy intersante.  I like spelling words as their British equivalent, just because I like the way it looks.  For example, color/colour, gray/grey/ favorite/favourite, etc.

Haha well chip chip cheerio and all that now lad!

(By the way I don't actually like using that term much, just because I fell like its too cheesy.  I like the phrase, for sure, but I just can't say it.)

Hmmm...

Darn it....  I had something to blog about, and then I totally just forgot.  No fun!  Well anyways..... I'm just gonna go with writing the first thing that comes to my mind.... This song, Hey Alli by Runner Runner is really amazing!  I'm listening to it right now.  The chorus especially, is so sweet.  Little romantic songs like these are kind of an obsession of mine.  They just bring a little smile to my lips, and wouldn't it be great if some awesome boyfriend sang one of these to you??  It would make me melt.  Other amazing romantic-y songs that I love include Falling In Love In A Coffee Shop by Landon Pigg, as well as Happy and Hummingbird by Never Shout Never.  There's tons more, but I can't think of any right at the moment....

Please comment and post a link of one of your favorite love songs!

Daphne Loves Derby

I thought I'd just share this awesome band I just discovered a day or so ago.  They're called Daphne Loves Derby and I really like their sound!  It reminds me of a bunch of my favorite bands combined into one.  So be a cool person and check them out :)  here's a link to one of my favorite songs by them.  Comment and tell me how you like it!

Modge Podge

I love it.  Honestly, whoever invented it, is my best friend for life.  I mean, this stuff is so cool!!! It gives the paper an amazing quality and texture.  It makes me happy :)

This post is all about art today, because art is life.  Any form of it.  Whether you express yourself through painting, sculpting, music, drawing, fashion, writing, photography, baking, sewing, knitting, film, poetry, etc. etc., it's art!  I think I was first really inspired to pursue art when I went to Michigan and visited my aunt Julia a few years ago.  I absolutely adore going to her house because she is so creative and there is always some neat art project going on. (yes, I said 'neat')  My fellow cousins also are rather creative, and they are also an inspiration.

I recently was offered an amazing opportunity by my art teacher to decorate this old bowling pin that will be displayed at a Bowling Congress Meeting thingy that is going to be hosted in Reno sometime soon.  The project was originally only meant for her honors students, but I guess she figured my friend and Brianna and I were 'artistic', and so even though we're not honors we get to do this great project!

I decided to make my pin's theme Reno Recycles.  That way it has something to do with Reno, but is also based on a topic I feel strongly about.  So far I've modge podged a whole bunch of random recycled bits of paper as a base, and right now I'm using my handy dandy hot glue gun to glue bits of recyclable material to it.  I'm really really excited, and promise I'll post a picture of the finished product later!

Bye!

the Eskimo

From my outing :)

Snow Shoeing!

Today was a beautiful day for an outing, so my parents and I embarked on a spectacular, top notch adventure.  After driving around for one long, tedious hour, striking out three times, we found a spot to hike around.  It was really really really windy.  We basically went around this mountain-hill-thingy.  First we went up, then around, then up, up, up, up (climbing uphill in 2 feet of snow is rather difficult) up, up, and when I felt like I honestly was going to die, (ok, maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration) we reached the top!  Then I had an incredibly fun time rolling down the hill.  Sure, I got super dizzy, but it was still FUN!!!  After driving back towards our house and stopping for some tea* and hot chocolate at Waldens (yum) that concluded our trip.  :) stay tuned for more adventures!

*by the way, if you ever have the opportunity to order Chai Vanilla Tea from Waldens, do so!  It's really sweet combined with deliciousness, and reminds me of Christmas.  In fact, it's like Christmas in a mug! (oh. my. gosh!!)

Justin Bieber

Ok, so I went to go see his movie, Never Say Never, today with my sister and two of my best friends.  And it was ok.  I'm not a fan of Bieber, but I don't hate him either.  I feel pretty bad for him because so many people hate on him so much.  However, I also am super annoyed by everyone who has idolized him.  Also, whatever you do, don't compare him to The Beatles.  Ever.

All in all, the movie was pretty good.  That kid is so crazy talented!  Plus he's pretty cute.  His voice isn't even that incredibly high anymore.  It's matured a bit more :)  He seems a pretty nice guy, and all he wanted to do was have a career in music.  Is that so wrong?

Happy Snow!

Roger the Amazing Snowman says hello!

Orthodontics

We are an odd species.... We shove foreign items into our jaws, poke, pinch and pull on our teeth, and all for what?  So we can have a bit straighter of a smile.  Todays world is so preoccupied with appearances that we are willing to put ourselves through jarring pain in order to achieve a more 'perfect' look.  I guess I'm glad that it doesn't take as long as it used to.  My mom had braces for 6 years.  For me, the sentence is a mere 21 months at most.  If I'm lucky it will be 17 :)

I'm actually kind of excited.  Even after all of my friends' attempts to scare me to death with their horror stories of misery and pain, I'm sooo ready for braces.  I want to get it over with.  Bring it on!  Right now I am planning on getting braces in 2 weeks,  which will be March 10.  At the moment I have these odd thick blue rubber band thingies (4 of them) stuck into my back molars.  They are there to 'separate' my teeth so I can get this spacer thing for my mouth to fit later.  They feel soooo weird!  But all in all, the ortho place was quite lovely.  they people were nice, and my orthodontist is pretty average.  Sooo I'm gonna say I'm happy :)

Picture

So yesterday I was walking around, looking for some cool things to take a picture of, so I walked to my park.  And I saw 2 cute little doggies!  So I uhhhhhh... took this one's picture... uhhhhhhh... yeah.  :)

Snow!!!

Look at all the snow!  I am soo happy right now!  Right now it's dumping snow, and we have about 5ish inches!  It's awesome!  Plus the amazing fact of... no school!!!! Four day weekend yeaaah!!!
I love snow because it is so pretty!  When it snows, the world kind of slows down, and becomes silent.  It's really serene and beautiful.  True, I'm not much of a snow sport fan, I don't like skiing that much, (painful memories..) and I'm really bad at snowboarding, but that doesn't mean I can't sled! :)

Music

Ok, so here's the deal.  I really really really like music.  I'm literally (literally being said in a British accent because I like the way it sounds) addicted to it.  Every night I listen to my iPod, or else I just can't sleep.  In the morning, I turn on the radio.  When I feel like bein' old school, I start up the turntable and bust out some records.  When I hear a fantastic song I like, I learn how to play it on my guitar.  It's crazy!  I hope you all love music as much as I do, because for me, life without music would be like life without sunshine :)

Hello!!!!

I've done it.  I've created a blog.  I'm now part of blogging society... Oh joy.  Maybe you've heard that thing, where blogging is super outdated...?  Well guess what???  I'm bringing it back!!! Thanks to all my pals for telling my to create a blog.  Guess whaaat?  I did!  Bear with me the first few days... weeks... months.... heck, maybe even years!  I'm sure I'll get better at it!  Until then, enjoy reading my thoughts on life!  If you don't enjoy them, then why in the world are you reading them??  Well that's all for now.... Love you all!
