Horoscopes :) another inspired by Maddie

Challenge taken Maddie!
From my.horoscope.com:
You may feel tense, Cancer, perhaps because someone close to you disregards the way you feel. You feel as if this person is more concerned with his or her own issues and not concerned about you. Meanwhile, your sensitive, caring heart is well aware of everyone else. You support others and are thoughtful. It's time to rearrange your priorities. First care about yourself, then others
From Me:
Hmmm... I don't know if it's someone really close to me necessarily, but yes, I can admit to feeling overlooked before.  Also, I know that I am guilty of caring too much about others, friends, family etc, and forgetting about myself.  If it'll make you happy, I'll give myself some me time! :)

msnbc.msn.com:
Regardless of the weather outside today, you may find yourself feeling shrouded in clouds. Your moodiness or blue feelings aren't anything to be worried about, however. This is a normal phase of darkness that will pass as soon as you get back in touch with the emotional stimulation you've been missing out on. New ideas and innovative ways of thinking will expedite this process, so expose yourself to creative expression as much as you can.
Me:
Emotional situation I'm missing out on..?  Umm hahaha, okay then. I'm gonna skip that part and agree with the philosophy that new ideas and innovative thinking is a key to success.  And that's all I gotta say about this one.

horoscopes.mydaily.com:
Sometimes you can overcome your insecurity and do whatever makes the most sense. At other times you prefer to take the wait-and-see approach. Today, however, it's difficult to know how to act. You're tempted to be less assertive if you can avoid direct confrontation, but someone might come to the rescue by supporting your efforts. Life is easier when you know that you've got a friend.
love horoscope:
The Moon is in your supersensitive sign this weekend, which tends to intensify your emotions. Friday is filled with surprises and the potential for power struggles. If trust issues arise, you'll be in a better place to deal with them on Saturday when supportive friends give you calming advice. By the time Sunday rolls around, you're ready to experience passion in more adventurous ways.
Me:
Today I tried to be more assertive than usual, and take risks, but typically I am a wait and see person.  I don't like to do things to quickly, and I like to think about things first.  Sometimes I end up over-thinking.. As for my 'love' horoscope, let's see what happens on Friday! ;) then Sunday I guess?

seventeen.com:
daily horoscope:
Meticulous attention to detail lets you flourish when someone offers you a summer job that could help out your career ambitions. That winning smile and preparedness will get you further than you ever thought.
beauty horoscope:
Instead of buying a new outfit, go through what you already own. Turns out that all you need is a new perspective to get a fresh look. Ask a friend with a good eye for her opinion on what you should wear.
love horoscope:
Romance goes best when given a creative slant as the week begins. Come up with a totally different question to ask. Design an unusual and interesting date (hint: Schedule it for this weekend). Do it your way. They'll be charmed. Around Wednesday and Thursday, yes, life is busy, but if you're handling romantic matters, make time and give them your full attention. Better yet, put them on hold until Friday -- the stars look ready to grant your heart's desires this weekend, and you look fantastic. (And for the answer you're seeking, look within.)
Me:
daily: A summer job would be appreciated!  I do smile a lot, so maybe I'll get lucky this year! :)
beauty: That's actually a really good idea.  As I mentioned, I don't exactly have spending money at the moment, so maybe it's time to clean out my closet!
love: Haha I'm not gonna be goin on any dates any time soon :) so this doesn't really mean anything to me.

www.ktvn.com:
love:
When is the last time you had a nice, long talk -- with yourself? Listen to your stream of thoughts, even that terribly annoying one that refuses to settle down. You could learn something new about what's actually bugging you!
Me:
Good idea..

Reno Gazette Journal:
As the fist water sign of the zodiac, you have a tendency to let your emotions stream, boil, flow or freeze according to the climate around you.
Me:
I'm not exactly sure what they mean by this, but my best guess is that I have a tendency to adapt my emotions and conform to then energies around me.  Which can be true, because I tend to empathize with people, and yeah.... haha yeah.

So.  According to most of my predictions, today I was supposed to be kind of moody and sullen..  Clouds surrounding me!  Proved them wrong, ha!  I actually had a pretty alright day.  I was sooooo tired though!  Otherwise, nothing bad :)

Thanks to Maddie for the suggestion!  Go check out her blog!

Two of my Favorite Love Quotes- stolen from Maddie!

Thanks Maddie for posting these!  They are so inspirational!  They make my heart melt, haha :)

When you smiled you had my undivided attention. When you laughed you had my urge to laugh with you. When you cried you had my urge to hold you. When you said you loved me, you had my heart forever.

Will you love me in December as you do in May,
Will you love me in the good old fashioned way?
When my hair has all turned gray,
Will you kiss me then and say,
That you love me in December as you do in May?

Cutting My Hair

I cut my hair about..... A week ago yesterday.  I used to have some long blonde hair, which was curly and frizzy and thick and a lotta work!  It had been my dream for a while to have super long beachy hair, and it would be all pretty, and windswept and amazing!  Then, one day, I woke up and was so sick of all my tangled waves.  Okay, so it wasn't as instantaneous as an overnight change, my dislike for long hair began through the course of about a week, but long story short, I decided to chop it off.  I asked my dear mother to pretty please schedule an appointment, the date was set.  Thursday, May 19, was to be the day.  I was so incredibly fantastically excited, and literally began counting the days.  (17 more days!  Only 15 more!  4 more days!)  On Thursday I even counted down the hours until I could go to the salon.
Let me tell you, I am very very happy with my new cut.  My hair is so hassle free now, and curls beautifully, and is really easy!  Plus it looks cute and best of all, I love it!  I feel very free, and enthusiastic and energetic and I loves it.  Haha.
Getting my hair cut is something I look forward to so much.  And I know that this has got to be a painfully boring blog, but I just wanted to write about it :)

Ciao!

Thoughts!

Ok, so this is a semi-serious post, hopefully infused with some comedy, although I certainly do not want to sound morbid and depressing or anything, and I certainly do not mean it in a way that will make you depressed.  The point of these next following words are to perhaps open your mind's eye for a moment, and shed some light on things that we as people often take for granted.

My story begins with something that happened to me about a week ago, as I was walking into my bedroom.  It was about 10:30 at night, and, as I do not like to turn on lights and disturb other members of the Jickling household, (i.e. my bloodthirsty sister) it was rather dark in the hallway.  As I turned the corner to step into my room and flick on the light switch, I stumbled over some shoes in my doorway (left there by an incredibly disorganized someone.. but definitely not me... pshhhhh) and nearly fell to my death.  Okay, yes, this is an exaggeration.  However, as I tripped and fell in an extraordinarily ungraceful manner, then caught myself and stood up, I began to think of the consequences of tripping and inflicting bodily harm upon oneself late at night.  I thought of how my sharp, wooden bed corner was waiting for an innocent young head to come crashing down upon it.  I thought of tears and blood, and parents worrying over stitches.  I thought of little sisters being worried.  Most of all, I realized that humans are in fact, very vulnerable.  We are a very fragile part of life, and often times I don't think that that is apparent until life is ripped away from us.  So treasure what you have, and try not to trip!

Love ya all!

Not Blogging

So I haven't blogged in a while, sorry.  I've been busy, too lazy, and not on the computer!  I like to think that I'm limiting my usage of technology... I'm not texting people much these days, and I don't check my email every day.  Consequentially I have not been blogging.  Trust me, I have a lot of things to talk about.  I have at least... 3 or 4 topics I could write about right now.  But want so spend a bunch of time on those, and I don't have time right now... So I promise I will blog more, ASAP.

Until then!

Hoping

You know how you fall for someone? And you tell yourself how much you are in love, and how that person means the world to you? Then, one day, all of your expectations and dreams are shattered. That one perfect being, the one who you could love for the rest of your life, is not in love with you. And your world falls to pieces. Sometimes it's hard to remember that your life is not over. It's hard to remember that that person isnot perfect. If they weren't meant to be, they can't be perfect. You can't force love. Someday, you will find someone who will fall head over heels in love with you, someone who will love every single thing about you. You're going to love every single second of your life together, and that person, and only that person, will be perfect. No one else. That is the one person who is meant for you, and you won't have to waste your time being torn down again and again by heartbreakers and teasers. Until then, you can grow from your mistakes. Life is about making choices. Sometimes, you make the wrong choice. But you can always change, and you can always correct your life. You can't undo the past, but you can sure as hell change the course of your future. Promise me that you will never stop believing in true love, and promise that you will never give up hope. Hope is the one thing that can forever survive in someone's heart, if it is cared for through nurturing and patience. I hope that you will love. And I forever love you for hoping.

Shirley the Cactus

So I have a pet cactus in my room.  Until very recently, specifically about 8 hours ago, this cactus was un-named.  But then I decided to name it Shirley.  The only reason I finally decided to name it was because today I referred to it as my 'pet', and pets need names.  So Shirley the cactus came to be.

My cactus used to be contained in a plastic, brownish orange-y colored cup.  I kept the cup in a blue bowl. Today I decided that I should take the cactus out of the plastic cup, and keep it in the bowl.  My mom, learning of my mission, decided that it was only fair to warn me that catuses (cacti, haha) are sharp and poky.  Having grown up in Tuscan, AZ, she knew aaaaaall about cacti (cactuses).  So, following my mother's advice, I grabbed a pair of tongs from the kitchen, and sprung into action.  Also, along the way I grabbed some extra materials that I felt might be handy in my adventure.  So I marched back to my cactus with my arms full of a pair of salad tossers, a big red clip, a screwdriver, and some tape.  I'm not sure exactly what I was planning on doing with all of those items, but I guess they could have been useful.

I very carefully grabbed the cactus in my tongs, and then dumped it into my blue bowl.  Then I used the screwdriver to stab the dirt a bit, and kind of mix it up in the cactus container.  Then I carried my Shirley the Cactus back into my room, grabbed a paper towel, and cleaned up all of the dirt that had exploded everywhere during the operation.  And that, my friends, is the tale of how Shirley the Cactus came to be.

The End.

Memory Motel!

I just had an amazing time.  At 6:30 my buddy Julie, picked myself and our friend/my neighbor Clay, up, then drove us to Maytan Music Center.  We ended up there about 20 minutes early, so we killed time wandering around downtown and breaking the law.  Did you know it's illegal to lay on the sidewalk in Nevada?  Apparently you are "obstructing traffic" so... you're not supposed to do that.  So what did we do?  We laid down on the sidewalk.  It was funnn.  After that we made our way into Maytan, up the stairs, paid our 5$ admission fee, discovered Clay was a millionaire, and went into the concert room.  Then we hung out in there for another 45 minutes maybe, waiting for the concert to start.  Very Pretty Pigeon was the first band, and they did a pretty good job.  The lyrics were maybe a bit scream-y, but the beat was super catchy.  After they played, I bought their t-shirt, and then Memory Motel was on!  Memory Motel is a prettyyy amazing band.  If you have a chance, check them out.  They played through their songs, and then, sadly, it was time for my group to leave.  Julie and I fished my jacket out from where she had throw it behind these big drums, then we grabbed Clay and got back into Julie's car.  We missed the band The Kanes, but I will just half to see them some other time.  Then Julie's mom drove me and Clay home.  I had tons and tons of fun, and was so glad I got to go! :)  yay local bands!

Special thanks to Julie's mom, Tommie, for transportation! :)

Bipolar Reno Weather

Ok, so let me give you a layout of the day...
This morning it was about 36 degrees and grey and cloudy.  Throughout the morning it snow showered on and off, and at lunch it was a mixture of warm, amazing sun, and cold, biting wind and clouds.  After school it was still pretty grey and cloudy, and during the ride home it hailed for a total of 30 seconds, then stopped.  When my friend Karly and I pulled into my driveway it looked like it might have rained a bit.   After dropping Karly off at her house and picking up my sister, my mom and I came back home to sun and a light wind.  By then the temperature was about 49 degrees.  So my mom and I put on our brand new running shoes, (courtesy of Eclipse Running) and went out for a loop.  The Ditch Trail was beautiful, and not muddy at all!  The sun was out and there was only a slight, refreshing breeze.  We got home at about 4:45, just in time to escape the clouds.  Since then it's been windy and dark.  Then, about 10 minutes ago, everyone in my house is momentarily excited by the hailstones pouring out of the sky.  That lasted all of 10 seconds- literally.  As soon as they began, they ended.  Now its 44.2 degrees outside, and it looks chilly and grey.  Where's my warm spring weather??  I want sun!!!!!!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day everybody!  I don't know about you, but I think that this holiday is incredibly special, because, after all, your mom does so much for you!  If it weren't for her... you wouldn't even be here, reading this blog. (dun dun dun!)  So buy yerself some flowers, put them in a bee-yootiful bouquet, and give them to that lucky madre of yours!  Most of all, just remember to tell her how much you appreciate her and love her.  That, is the true essence of this day.  Because after all of the blueberry muffins, cards, and flowers, the greatest gift you could offer a mother is the reassuring knowledge that she is loved.

Wessel vs. Jickling

It was a fine spring day, with clear blue skies, a bright, umm.. fiery sun, and lovely 75 degree temperature.  It was an average Thursday, with no particular events or happenings.  Unless you happened to be observing the goings and comings of a certain Reed High School, then you might notice that a track meet was destined to occur at approximately 2:45 that afternoon.  You would watch the school buses jammed with middle schoolers pull up to the school parking lot, evacuate the large yellow vehicles, and file their way onto the bleachers.  Then you would watch as a long stream of kids in blue jerseys all made their way down onto the field, made a lap around the track, and then gathered for stretching circles.  Once they were properly stretched and limber, they would line up for 'calisthenic bounding'.  After they finished showing off their team unity, ending with a a finale of a couple shouts of "GO PANTHERS!" they would all walk back up the bleachers, and sit down for a few minutes of rest before the meet officially began.

If you paid close attention to one blondie in particular, you would watch as she made her way to an official looking man in an ultramarine, long sleeved, Swope volleyball shirt, with scary sunglasses and a pretty rad looking, grey ponytail.  If you kept watching, and ever so innocently listened in on their conversation, you would hear something like this...

"Hey Mr. Wessel, do you have the baton bag?"
"I'm trying to find it."
"Oh really?  Well, what does it look like?"
"It's blue."
"What color blue?"

Then you might have been slightly amused as you watched the man named Mr. Wessel give the blonde girl the most utterly bewildered look you ever did see.

"What do you mean what color blue?  What type of a question is that?"

To which the girl replied;

"It's a great question!  I mean, it could be this color blue, (pointing at the man's shirt) or this color, (pointing at the sky) or it could be so blue it looks black,"

Just then, you would have seen another blonde girl walk up to the man, and, not having heard the previous conversation, ask Mr. Wessel what the baton bag looked like, to which a very exasperated teacher would respond,

"Well I don't know, seeing as we can't decide what shade of blue it is!"

Then you would watch the argument unfold, once again.  Finally, the seemingly amazing blonde girl and her friends would march off in search of the blue (although no telling exactly what color blue) baton bag,  and they would find themselves rather unsuccessful.

A few minutes later, if you were still paying attention, you would watch as the blonde girl walked through a crowd of people, and you would continue to watch as the teacher named Wessel stormed past her holding a faded, azure, canvas bag.

"This color blue!" are the words that the blonde girl would turn around to, seeing just in time an agitated instructor power-walk by.  You would see the girl shake her head in humorous disbelief, and follow the man in the ultramarine shirt so that she could retrieve a baton.

By this point in time you would be able to make certain inferences on the characters of this story that you were watching unfold.  First of all, you would guess that the track coach known as Mr. Wessel was a crazy, although good teacher.  You would very possibly sense the exasperation that he conjured from his students, yet you would also be able to sense that he was a loved teacher, despite his insane-ness.  Secondly, you would guess that the blonde girl was a very patient, amazing, absolutely stunningly fantastic, totally beautiful yet modest, lovely young woman, and you would laugh along with her throughout her attempts to assist her coach.

If you were still watching at this point in the story, you would be so emotionally invested in the plot that you would have already made custom t-shirts, purchased your foam fingers from the Amazing Story Store, and of course would have already memorized the main character's favorite color and birthday.  (don't have just one, and June 30th in case you were wondering).

However, right now I am going to press the fast-forward button and jump a few scenes into the future.

Now you would see the blonde girl at the starting line, preparing to run the 1600 meter.  You would watch with bated breath as you saw the 'so called' Mr. Wessel approach the participating Swope girls and ask one with a long blonde pony tail what her split time was.  Because you are such a smart person, and by smart I mean positively genius, you would automatically know, without any background information, that the pony tail girl was a Junior Olympic runner, and of course knew what a split time was.  Meanwhile, the poor blondie was punished with the asking of the same exact question.  You would try to shield your eyes, and plug your ears as you witnessed the coach wreaking revenge on the blonde girl who only wanted to know what color blue the baton bag was.  Luckily for you, the blonde girl is, like I said, amazing, and knows that Mr. Wessel is only giving her a hard time.  So, very much like a super awesome ninja, she rebounds and emerges unscathed from the verbal attack!  Success!  Blondie: 1, Wessel: 0.

That would conclude the end of your session, and don't forget to tune in next week!

Ok so this is kind of interesting...  I just found out that I have had 9 page views from people in Germany and 8 from Denmarkians.  Which I find incredibly interesting... Absolutely fascinating... Haha ok well it's not that cool, but I am still kind of... awed?  It's probably a total accident, someone was super bored in Germany one day and decided to type in random words into their address box, and ended up finding this site somehow... Then they were like "Ach! Was zur Hölle ist das?" (look it up in Google translate)

Haha anyways, I felt like blogging about this because of it's randomness.

Being Busy

I have been SO busy the last week or so.  Starting last weekend, I had Scene Stealers rehearsal for about 2 hours, some birthdays to celebrate, and some chores to complete!  Then, on Monday, I had a make-up quiz and some homework to finish.  On Tuesday I had Scene Stealers for three hours, then stayed up really late trying to finish Animal Farm, for English.  All Wednesday I was exhausted, but I did finish the book.  Wednesday afternoon I had piano, then tap, and then I stayed up late working on the Eighth Grade Enigma project.  On Thursday (today) I was really tense alllll day!  I took a math test and worked on my enigma some more.  Then I had a track meet today at Reed, and I was pretty nervous.  I always am for some reason.  I had a skirmish with Mr. Wessel, (which I will tell you all about later, cuz it was pretty funny....)
and then I ran the mile (7:54 yes!), ran a relay, and jumped the long jump.  After the long jump, my dad and I rushed home so I could shower and get ready for my piano recital.  Unfortunately, the second I got home I realized that we forgot to sign me out at the meet!

If you are unfamiliar with the school district's sport system, let me explain.  PAPER WORK PAPER WORK PAPER WORK.  They are super duper strict, and at every meet your parent needs to sign you out.  If you don't get signed out you can be kicked off the team.  So you can see why this was a big deal.  I called all of my friends I knew who were still at the meet, and finally got my butt saved by Clare, who gave her phone to Mr. Harris and let him talk to my dad.  I'm still not sure if I'm on the team, but all I can do is hope for the best..

After a quick shower I got ready for my piano recital, ate some Domino's pizza (yum!) and practiced my pieces.  Then we hopped in the car and drove to Steinway Gallery.  I played my music, watched my friends Maddy and Jessie sing/play piano, (missed you Jules!) then drank some punch and left to go home.  When I got home I organized my super messy binders, and sat down to work on Science homework.  The I video chatted with Meade, Jessie and Maddie for all of 2 minutes, because then my gmail crashed.  I finished my science, and then decided to blog about my intense life.

Tomorrow I am going to do all of my classes, hopefully finish my Spanish homework in aiding class, and I will sadly have to skip aiding in the CLS classroom.  I need to do homework!  If I'm lucky, Josh will be in the hall and he can play his cello.  During enrichment tomorrow I need to finish the English MAPS test, and do well on it.  After school I have track practice (hopefully, if I'm on the team!)  Then I will walk home.  I think someone wanted me to do something on Friday... Maybe I'm supposed to hang out with Jessie, I don't know.  On Saturday I'm going to school from about 11 to 1, for math tutoring.  I hate polynomials!  After math, I have more Scene Stealers rehearsal from 1:30 to whatever time that finishes.
Don't get me wrong-  I absolutely LOVE Scene Stealers.  It's my second family, and if I could basically live there, I would.
On Saturday night there is a Memory Motel concert that I would really really really like to go to, which starts at 7, so I need to plan for that.  Also, I need time to do chores.  On Sunday I don't have anything planned, but maybe I will sleep.  That would be nice.
